More About Me

How I Got Started in IT

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I got introduced to technology when got involved with a youth program in my neighborhood. In this program, I learned about computers, from the operating systems, to binary, to the motherboard. I learned how to build a computer, and at the end of the program I got to keep the computer I built. So the first computer I ever owned was the one I built myself :)

One of my first jobs in high school was doing DSL technical support for a telecommunications company. After college, the helpdesk world called me again and I did more DSL support for another company. I took a break from helpdesk for a few years but came back to it in 2018. Since then, I've moved on to being a QA tester, as well as starting a my journey down a different IT path by becoming a ServiceNow System Admin/Developer.

I recently completed the ServiceNow HBCU Spring Cohort with TechBridge in May 2023.

ServiceNow

I heard about ServiceNow through a fellow colleague. I did some research, and saw how it was similar but more innovative than the ticketing systems I had worked with before. I decided to get my own PDI and play around with it, hoping that one day I could get a position involving ServiceNow. It's been incredible to put what I learned on my own into use, and the support and additional knowledge that I've since gained from fellow ServiceNow peeps and SMEs has been invaluable. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I look forward to continuing my ServiceNow journey with an amazing organization.
